Safer speaking practice
Luwy is designed to help people communicate better without exposing younger users to unnecessary mature or harmful contexts.
Under 18
- Stricter topic and scenario filtering.
- No explicit sexual content or sexualised roleplay.
- No graphic violence or gore.
- No self-harm encouragement or instructions.
- No hateful or demeaning practice prompts.
- No unsafe requests disguised as communication exercises.
- Camera remains optional.
- Safe mode is always on and cannot be turned off.
- Live voice, audio recording upload and pronunciation scoring, the camera coach, friends and challenges, and paid plans stay off until a parent or guardian approves by emailed link.
- You are hidden from leaderboards by default.
A parent or guardian can withdraw consent, or ask us to delete the account and its data, at any time.
Age 13+
Luwy is for users aged 13 and above. The age you give at sign-up decides which safety settings apply.
Friends and chat
You can only connect with someone who has given you their friend code, and there is no public search. The leaderboard shows only you and your friends, and you can hide yourself from it. Challenge chat is checked automatically. Phone numbers, social media handles, links and other contact details are blocked, as is sexual, violent, hateful or otherwise harmful content. Chat messages are deleted when a match ends.
Block and report
To block or report someone, open Friends, choose the person, then choose Block or Report. Blocking removes any friendship and stops them contacting you. To report an unsafe prompt, response or scenario, or anything else, send a message through Feedback in the app (About, then Help).
